Cardiac Recovery Unit (CRU)
 

The Cardiac Recovery Unit (CRU) is where patients go after testing in the cardiac catheterization lab. Patients undergoing the following procedures will be cared for in the CRU:

  • Irregular heart rhythms
  • Cardioversions
  • Chest pain ruling out Myocardial Infarctions (MI, heart attacks)
  • Cardiac Catheterizations
  • Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
  • Stents
  • Permanent and temporary Pacemakers
  • Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillators (AICD)
  • Peripheral Angioplasty and Stents
  • Electrophysiology Studies (EPS) and Ablations  

The CRU is staffed by experienced Registered Nurses who are happy to answer your questions. 

 Visitors are limited to 2 people at a time. Please, no infants or children younger than age 16. A waiting room outside the department is available for additional family members and visitors.

The CRU is located on the First floor near the Emergency room. If you need assistance locating the CRU, stop by the Emergency room receptionist or the Front desk Auxillary on Brent St and ask for directions.

There are 6 patient stations in this department. Each station is capable of having telephone calls transferred in by calling (805) 667-2897. CRU is open Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm. Visiting hours varies due to procedures being done in the department.
